JG Restorations Ltd is immensely proud to showcase the extensive and meticulously crafted new lead roofing that has been expertly installed on both the South and North aisles of the historic St Mary’s Church, located in the picturesque village of Great Bedwyn.

As part of our ongoing commitment to the careful conservation of historic buildings, this project involved a series of specialist restoration works to the church exterior.

The church clock was meticulously re-gilded using 24-carat gold leaf, restoring its prominence and ensuring a high-quality, long-lasting finish in keeping with its heritage.

Extensive roofing repairs were undertaken, which required the careful removal of six layers of slate to access the underlying structure. Significant wall plate and rafter repairs were then carried out using Douglas fir, providing renewed structural integrity while respecting traditional materials.

All lead back gutters on the tower were replaced to improve water management and protect the masonry below. In addition, the entire west elevation was carefully repointed using traditional lime mortar, enhancing both the appearance and breathability of the historic fabric.
